The second of these trips is to The Brew Shack (thebrewshack.co.uk), the newest edition to the Dorset brewing scene having been set up by Adam Bascombe last year. Adam says he was inspired to start the venture after being introduced to real ale at Poole Beer Festival some years ago and the quality of his products have already been rewarded with Eight Grain Porter winning Beer of The Festival at last year’s Poole Beer Festival. His ethos is to produce a range of ales which do not conform to traditional brewing methods, with a stout, a porter and an IPA among the portfolio of unfined and vegan friendly beers being brewed. Demand for these from the local free trade has already necessitated an increase in the size of the brewing plant and the addition of a bottled beer range will do much to introduce the brewery to a wider audience. Italian food will be available to purchase during the visit courtesy of MYO Pizza (myopizza.co.uk) and the brewery is staging an open day all day on the Saturday for those who wish to venture there at their own leisure.
